Finally the weather gods let us onto an oval to stage an event - the 2014 BCRFC Presentation Day!
There were jumping castles, a radar speed kick test, face painting, BBQ and canteen, lots of mini games, kit return and of course the presentations themselves. The day was hot enough for a dose of water bombs, and the All You Can Play was a success with kids getting worn out before going home.
All the winners, and a couple of photos from the day, are ready for your viewing pleasure.
Our friends at Soccer Kickstart are again offering holiday clinics for those children who need a little less screen time and a little more green time. Clinics are held at East Ryde, Ryde, Turramurra, Cherrybrook and Cheltenham, depending on age and experience.
The Club receives a small amount from each registered player. So if you can't decide which clinic to attend, attend a Kickstart clinic and mention you're from Bannockburn!

Friends and family of Rhys Pagalday held the trivia fund raiser night recently. The night was a big success, raising more than $17,000.
Bannockburn Clarke Road Football Club, Asquith Football Club and Mount Colah Football Club contributed $1550 towards his recovery.
The soccer community have been absolutely amazing. Rhys had a visit at school from Adam Kwasnik, Youth Development Officer with the Central Coast Mariners who presented Rhys with a signed jersey and ball. There was also a visit from Rob Wilkinson, the father of Socceroo Alex Wilkinson, who donated a signed jersey for the auction. Alex will be in Australia at Christmas and will check in with Rhys. The Central Coasts Mariners have promised Rhys and his mates tickets next season.
The Club wishes Rhys and his family the best of luck going forward.
The weather gods are a mean bunch, and have again denied the M35s the chance to play the Grand Final. The game that was re-scheduled at St Ives Showground today has again been cancelled.
If the game is rescheduled, and maybe even moved to an all-weather pitch, you'll hear about it as soon as we do.
Keep your snorkels at the ready for any ice bucket challenges instead.
UPDATE 8 September: There is no reschedule of the Grand Final. BCRFC is declared joint winner for season 2014.
Just a quick email to let you know that the club has scheduled its Presentation Day for Sunday the 14th September at Bannockburn Oval. So please diarise.
We are pleased to announce a new partnership with Triforce, a fantastic local sports shop on the Pacific Highway in Gordon.
This new agreement gives all BCRFC members and family a discount within the store. Normally the discount will be 10% but next Wednesday 3rd September between 9 am and 7.30pm they are offering us a special VIP day which will give our members a special 20% discount on all items (excluding cricket balls and compression products!
The great thing is every dollar spent will support our club as Triforce will be giving a 5% rebate. Simply mention Bannockburn Rovers at the cash register!
The store has a focus on SOCCER NETBALL CRICKET RUNNING and RUGBY.
Enjoy the shopping and stock up for next season!
The NSFA has advised us today that the Gala Day weekend for 2014 has been cancelled.
"This is not a decision we have taken lightly as a great deal of time and effort has gone into preparing for this weekend. We delayed a decision as long as we possibly could but we received advice today from the two largest councils that there was very little prospect of grounds being open, even if the rain was to stop today.
This also means our final training session for the season tomorrow 28th August 2014 will also not go ahead.
Given this double-whammy of disappointing news, Club stalwart Katie Hislop will be at Pymble Public School top gate from 2.45 until 3.10pm tomorrow (Thursday 28th) to give out the photo packs to coaches and managers..
The next club event will be Presentation Day on the 14th September 2014, details of this will be publicised soon.
JUNIOR GALA DAY 24TH AUGUST
GIRLS GALA DAY 25TH AUGUST
Gala Day is on this weekend. Coaches and Managers will have received the Rules, and younger age groups have also received the draw.
Other teams should see the Draw late this week, most likely on Friday due to the logistical effort that is required to pull it together.
The NSFA website has the latest information.
Gala day is the last day of on-field games but it doesn’t need to be the end .
You can keep the fun going and maintain your skills with summer 5-a-side football , Primary Soccer.
You and your friends can get a team together and enter a competition that is more about the game than the result.
Players can choose who they play with or can ask for help in finding a team.
All games have referees and are played one afternoon a week after school. With no training your weekends are free.
You can register to play at either Karuah oval in Turramurra or George Christi oval in Wahroonga or Koola Oval at Killara.
Players are not graded but teams are. This is done to determine who they should play against.
Team grading starts in a few weeks so why not get a team together. Remember to enter “Bannockburn” as your winter sports club.
